Nepal is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, with mountain scenery, lush green valleys, and spectacular landscapes welcoming you throughout the seasons. There are countless destinations for a panoramic experience, but this 12-day trip takes you to only the best.
Your Nepal trip starts with a short Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour, which includes the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan. The trip lasts two days, and you’ll get to visit numerous temples while also getting a view of each surrounding area you visit.
After exploring Kathmandu, you’ll be escorted to the Nagarkot Hills, which offer a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Then, we’ll take you to Bandipur, another hill station located in the Tanahun district. Once your short exploration of Bandipur is over, we’ll head to Pokhara, where you’ll spend a night in the Pumdi Bhumdi hills. You’ll also visit the Pumdikot Shiva Statue and the World Peace Pagoda on the same day.
Along with these short trips that bring you close to the mountains, we have also included a short hiking adventure within this 12-day Nepal Tour package. Your journey begins from Nayapool and ends in Dhampus via Tanchowk and Ghandruk. You’ll be spending a total of three days in the Annapurna Conservation Area. This not only offers the best sunrise and sunset views in the country but also gives you an insight into the Gurung communities living in the region.
For a relaxing experience, Altitude Himalaya has also arranged a leisure day with adventure options in Pokhara. On this day, you’ll also explore Devi’s Falls and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave.
During the final leg of this trip, you’ll take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. During this time, you can enjoy some cultural shopping and join us for a farewell dinner featuring cultural programs.
Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Let’s look into the places in more depth:
Wake Up to Mountain Views in Nagarkot
Very close to Kathmandu, Nagarkot offers breathtaking vistas along with sunrise and sunset views over snow-capped peaks (especially during winter). This is the first stop on the 12-day Nepal tour that delivers a true panoramic experience.
The visible mountains from here include Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manaslu, Jugal, Numbur, Rolwaling, and sometimes even Everest. With these Himalayan backdrops, the mornings and evenings become a paradise for photography enthusiasts.
Catch Hilltop Views and Village Charm in Bandipur
Located in the Tanahun district, Bandipur is yet another hill station that offers mesmerizing views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Langtang ranges. In addition, the panorama overlooking the Marshyangdi Valley is nothing short of a spectacular experience.
Bandipur is actually a Newari town, and on this tour, we’ll stop by as we head toward Pokhara from Kathmandu. You’ll spend a night here, which includes a short sightseeing tour of the village and nearby attractions like Thana Mai Temple, the sunset vantage point, Bandipur Monastery, and more.
Stay Above the Lake in Pumdi Bhumdi
Pumdi Bhumdi is a hilltop in Pokhara that’s home to the recently popular Pumdikot Shiva Statue. Even the World Peace Pagoda lies very close to this location.
Along with the blessings of these sacred sites, the highlight of this landmark is the surreal landscape and breathtaking mountain views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna, along with a sweeping view of Pokhara city itself.
You’ll be spending a night at a luxurious retreat that not only offers a quieter atmosphere but also a glimpse into less-explored village life.
Catch the Annapurna Peaks From Ghandruk Village
For even more up-close Himalayan views, we’re going to take you to the Gurung village of Ghandruk. The panoramic views of the mountains—Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre are what make this place a literal heaven.
While here, make sure to fully explore the traditional yet beautiful slate-roofed houses, try their trending attire, and socialize with the locals. You’ll instantly feel welcomed, which clearly reflects how amazing their culture truly is.
Another interesting fact about Ghandruk is that it serves as the gateway to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). So, don’t forget to wish luck to the trekkers you meet along the way.
Enjoy Wide Valley Views in Tanchowk
While Tanchowk might not be well known and may not have the best vantage point for panoramic views, this village is more about offering a raw and authentic rural experience.
Unlike other trails, this part of the Annapurna Conservation Area is peaceful and uncrowded. So, you’ll instantly connect with nature, making it ideal for those seeking a slow-travel experience.
Tanchowk also acts as a connecting point between Ghandruk and Dhampus. So, a stop here for cultural immersion sounds just right during this 12-day Nepal tour. And still, the valley views here are something to truly savor.
Wake up to Machhapuchhre Right Outside Dhampus Lodge
After three long days of hiking, your final destination is Dhampus Village. It's one of the best places for sweeping Himalayan views of Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Lamjung, and the Annapurna range.
The highlight here is that you get to experience both sunset and sunrise from the Dhampus Lodge where you’ll be staying. Besides that, you also get to explore a different Gurung village, where you can learn about their traditional hospitality.
In fact, on the way from Tanchowk to Dhampus, you also have the option to make a stop at Australian Base Camp. This is yet another accessible viewpoint that doesn’t involve much hiking but still offers surreal views of the mountains.
Experience Stunning Sunrise in Sarangkot
One of Pokhara’s iconic vantage points for sunrise has been Sarangkot for decades now. The golden hour over the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri ranges has been a favorite among many of our previous guests.
Not just that. Sarangkot is also home to tons of adventure activities: paragliding, bungee jumping, and zip-flyer. You see, you don’t just experience the panoramic views here, but also push your limits and feel the rush of adrenaline.
Key Experiences on This 12-Day Nepal Tour
Our Nepal Panorama Tour of 12 days doesn’t just guarantee you sweeping mountain and valley views. We’re also equally dedicated to providing the best cultural experience.
That said, you’ll be taken on short Kathmandu and Pokhara sightseeing trips as well. You’ll visit all the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley, along with some of the most beautiful natural spots in Pokhara.
You’ll meet people from different ethnic groups, interact with the local community, and even get involved in various activities and adventures. While the tour’s definite highlight is the panoramic views, you’ll also discover that Nepal isn’t just about the mountains after experiencing its rich cultural side.
Kathmandu Valley Cultural Sightseeing
Among the twelve days in Nepal, we’ve allocated two full days just for Kathmandu Valley sightseeing. You’re going to visit all seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites located here.
Since Kathmandu is called the ‘City of Temples’, the tour is mostly going to feature holy Hindu and Buddhist sites. Even when you visit the three Durbar Squares, you’ll be accompanied by temples all along the way.
Here are the major places we’re going to take you:
- Pashupatinath Temple: A morning visit to the temple, where you’ll see people queuing up to receive blessings from Lord Shiva.
- Boudhanath Stupa: A kora walk with your travel buddies that brings you closer to Buddha’s teachings.
- Swayambhunath Stupa: Spin prayer wheels, visit the temples, and enjoy the Kathmandu Valley panorama from the vantage point (sometimes even accompanied by mountain views).
- Kathmandu Durbar Square: Learn about the history of the Malla and Shah kings, with chances to visit the living goddess Kumari. Also, explore the Basantapur area for souvenir shopping and to enjoy the vibrant local lifestyle.
- Patan Durbar Square: Get to know the Malla kings of Patan through a visit to the museum. Also, roam around the various temples in the region—the highlight being the Krishna Mandir.
- Bhaktapur Durbar Square: The largest among the three Durbar Squares, this one takes you back to the medieval period, when Bhadgaon was its own kingdom. Don’t forget to visit the Nyatapol Temple and explore the surroundings with a cup of juju dhau in hand.
- Changunarayan Temple: A lesser-visited temple, but an architectural masterpiece, where you’ll see devotees seeking blessings from Lord Vishnu. The site also features shrines related to other deities.
Besides cultural insights, Altitude Himalaya promises that at every landmark, we’ll take you to vantage points that offer panoramic views of the surrounding area. We’ll explore this in more detail in the itinerary section.
Pokhara Religious and Natural Sightseeing
Kathmandu might be the cultural hub for tourists, but Pokhara is more of a natural haven that brings you closer to the mountains. It’s a place that both local and international tourists love to spend time in, and that’s one reason why it’s considered the tourism capital of Nepal.
Even on this trip, we’ve allocated at least three days in Pokhara, two of which are dedicated to sightseeing. Here are the major places within the city that you’ll visit (excluding Sarangkot and adventure activities):
- Pumdikot Shiva Statue: The 57-feet tall Bhumeshwar Shiva statue isn’t just a place to worship the god of destruction. It also serves as a viewpoint for Pokhara city and the nearby mountains.
- World Peace Pagoda: A peaceful site located on Andu Hill, this spot helps you find solace and rejuvenation, while also bringing you closer to Buddhist philosophy.
- Devi’s Falls: Locally known as Patale Chhango, this surreal waterfall disappears underground. It’s a picturesque spot, but be sure not to get too close—especially during monsoon season, when the water level is extremely high.
- Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave: Located just opposite Devi’s Falls, this cave not only offers a unique view of the waterfall but also houses a Shiva temple inside.
- Phewa Lake: Whether you're into boating/kayaking or simply spending time by the Lakeside, the view of the lake is what makes Pokhara feel calm and relaxing.
- Tal Barahi Temple: An optional stop while kayaking or boating on Phewa Lake, where you can visit the temple to seek blessings for good health and happiness.
3-Day Short Hiking Experience
Visiting Nepal and not getting involved in any treks feels like you’ve missed out on something. But with Altitude Himalaya as your travel partner, we won’t let that feeling get to you in any way.
While including short treks is possible within this adventure as well, we’ve decided to go for a unique approach. One that lets you visit three major destinations in the Annapurna Conservation Area!
This hiking adventure starts from Nayapul and leads to Ghandruk via Birethanti. After spending a night there, you and your guide will continue to Tanchowk, followed by Dhampus the next day.
Each of these Himalayan destinations offers unique views and distinct insights into the Gurung communities. You won’t just enjoy the surroundings but also gain meaningful knowledge about Nepali culture and customs.
Optional Adventures in Pokhara
Just like trekking, there are adrenaline-rushing activities in Pokhara that are worth trying rather than just spending your time at leisure. These adventures foster personal growth and bring a sense of accomplishment to those who take part.
Based on the prior experiences of our guests, we’ve selected these adventures that fit perfectly within this 12-day Nepal tour:
- Ultralight Flight: Along with mountain views, this adventure offers a panoramic bird’s-eye view of the Pokhara Valley. You just have to sit back as a passenger and enjoy while the pilot glides you through the air.
- Paragliding: One of the most famous adventures starting from Sarangkot Hills, this has fulfilled many people’s dreams of flying like a bird.
- Bungee Jumping: Jumping off an 80-meter-high tower gives you a mixed feeling of fear and exhilaration. In Pokhara, the mountain backdrop enhances the thrill, making it a must-try experience.
- Zip-flyer: A comparatively easier yet thrilling activity that takes you from the top of Sarangkot Hills to Hemja on the longest and steepest zipline in the world!
- Hot Air Balloon: A trending adventure in Pokhara that lifts you high above the city to offer panoramic views of the surroundings.
- Kayaking or Boating: Another trending activity on Phewa Lake that not only lets you glide through the calm waters but also rewards you with stunning reflections of the surrounding mountains.
- Rafting: The Seti River offers Grade II and III rapids, making it ideal for white-water rafting. If you have the time, it’s a great group activity that enhances team collaboration skills.
Dinner Over Cultural Performance
Last but not least, this 12-day Nepal Panoramic trip from Altitude Himalaya ends your vacation with a farewell dinner and cultural dance programs. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about different Nepali ethnic groups, their customs, and traditions.
The dinner will be a typical Nepali Thali Set along with some snacks, which includes Dal and Bhat (something you’ll hear throughout this trip). You can even try extra delicacies like your favorite pickle, desserts, and other Nepalese food.
