    Where is Ghandruk Village?

    The most picturesque village of Nepal, Ghandruk lies in the Gandaki province. It is also one of the most commercialized villages of Nepal.     Gurungs in this region exercise Buddhism along with their native birth, marriage, death rituals, also known as life-rituals. They follow animistic religion traditionally and got introduced to Buddhism in the 7th century. They have their own language with their unique dialect. 

    Their mother tongue is called ‘Tamukwyi’. They have their own scripture known as ‘Pye-ta Lhu-ta’ and ‘Pye’ is the name of their orally spoken language. It is believed that they were originally from Tibet, came to Himalayan region of Nepal as wanderers and later settled here. Various festivals are celebrated by the locals of Ghandruk.     The old Gurung museum is one of the attractions in Ghandruk that still preserves the antique culture of Gurungs. The museum is designed with typical old Gurung house with lots of collection of their livelihood.One large room is stuffed with old everyday things made of bamboo (baskets optimized for every need), wood (containers, musical instruments), brass (pots, dishes), wool (blankets), etc. weapons, an altar, many things a Gurung farmer's family needed.     Overnight Ghandruk Trek from Nayapul

    How to reach Ghandruk?

    Ghandruk lies in the Gandaki province in the Kaski district of Nepal. Situated on the shadow of the Annapurna and the Machapuchhre, it is one of the most popular tourism destinations of the Annapurna region.     From Kathmandu

    Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. Out of the 0 UNESCO world heritage sites of Nepal, 7 of them lie inside the capital. Meanwhile, Ghandruk lies about 265 kilometers away from Kathmandu. There are mainly two ways to reach Ghandruk from Kathmandu. One is by Flight and road and another is by road only. 

    By Road

    Kathmandu to Ghandruk road trip is the best option to reach this beautiful Gurung village. At the beginning of the trip you will pass through the Prithivi Highway. After reaching Mugling the road to Pokhara and Chitwan separated. Passing through Damauli you will reach Pokhara in about 6 hours. The road is not so good and you will be accompanied by large traffic until Mugling. 

    Upon reaching Pokhara you will start driving through the Pokhara-Maldhunga sadak until Nayapul. After crossing the Modi Khola bridge, you will drive through the off road to reach the Ghandruk village. The distance from Napul to Ghandruk is 19 kilometers only. But because of the off road it will take longer to reach the starting point of the village.

    By Flight and Road

    If you are in a hurry then by flight and road is the best option to reach the Ghandruk village of the Annapurna region. There are daily flights to Pokhara. Because of that you can easily get one to reach Pokhara. You can take a flight from Tribhuvan Airport and reach Pokhara Airport. The flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu will take about 25 minutes. Upon reaching Pokhara you can take a drive and follow the same route to reach the Ghandruk village.

    From Pokhara

    Pokhara is the gateway to the Annapurna region of Nepal. Most of the treks of the Annapurna region start and end at Pokhara. One of the most touristic places of Nepal, Pokhara is also the gateways to the Ghandruk village. Ghandruk lies about 60 kilometers away from Pokhara and you can easily get a ride to Ghandruk from Pokhara bus park. You can book your ticket or can also hire a private vehicle to reach Ghandruk village. You will follow the same route through the Pokhara Maldhunga sadak until Nayapul and catch the off road.
