Then comes one of the trip’s biggest highlights. A scenic mountain flight that takes you close to Mount Everest. That same day, you’ll step back in time at Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changunarayan Temple, where unique-styled windows, temple rooftops, and stone courtyards tell stories from centuries ago.
You’ll be heading to Nagarkot next, where you’ll settle in for a luxurious retreat and wake up the next morning to its incredible Himalayan sunrise. From there, the journey continues toward Namobuddha with a restful night in Dhulikhel. Another beautiful sunrise awaits.
Next, you’ll go for a scenic drive to Chandragiri Hills, where you’ll enjoy a cable car ride experience through clouds and soak in wide mountain views visible in the distance. Not to forget, there’s Bhaleshwor Mahadev here, which holds great Hindu significance.
Your Kathmandu journey slowly comes to an end after you spend ample time wandering the vibrant streets of Thamel, New Road, and Ason. Remember that you’re here not just to shop but also to learn more about the culture and customs of Nepal.
And to close it all, our team will be eagerly waiting for you for a farewell dinner with a cultural program. It truly will be an exciting part of the journey. You’ll savor traditional flavors while enjoying live cultural performances.
This trip brings the very best of Kathmandu. From sacred temples and sunrise moments to luxury stays and cultural depth. We’re pretty sure these seven days are going to be a treat for you and your group.
Religious Attractions
This Kathmandu trip takes you through some of the most powerful religious sites, from ancient temples to peaceful stupas. You’ll walk through centuries-old courtyards, watch locals in their quiet rituals, and witness moments that are deeply rooted.
From the sacred river banks of Pashupatinath to the hilltop at Bhaleshwor Mahadev, each stop on this journey offers its own unique religious energy. Let the chants, incense, and unique architecture guide you through Kathmandu’s spiritual heart!
The Sacred Heights of Swayambhunath Stupa
Located right at one of the hills, this spot offers sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley. Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, is one of the most ancient and revered religious sites in Nepal.
It’s sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus, making it a symbol of harmony and devotion. You’ll find both monasteries and temples scattered around the area.
And here’s what the legends say: the site was once a lake, and the hill rose spontaneously from a lotus. This is what gave the stupa its name “Swayambhu,” meaning self-existent. The residents of Kathmandu fully trust the eyes of Buddha painted on the stupa, as they believe that Buddha is quietly watch over the valley!
The Holy Hindu Site of Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple isn’t just one of the oldest Hindu temples in Nepal, but a place where culture, faith, and history come alive every single day!
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this sacred site holds immense spiritual value for Hindus across the world. Visiting Pashupatinath and offering prayers here can cleanse your sins and bring peace to your soul. That’s why thousands of pilgrims visit here on special occasions and major festivals.
When in the Pashupatinath Temple, our team ensures that you get to experience all of it. These include the main temple complex, cremation sites, evening arati ceremony (optional), sadhus, and surrounding forest trails!
Peaceful Circumbulation at Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa is not just a beautiful heritage site for tourists, but also a major spiritual center for Tibetan Buddhism. Considered one of the largest stupas in the world, when just standing near it, you can feel the calm energy radiating from every corner.
Boudhanath is more than just a structure. It’s a living space where monks chant, locals spin prayer wheels, and the smell of incense fills the atmosphere. Also, many believe that walking around the stupa in a clockwise direction (kora) brings blessings and clears one’s mind and soul.
When you’re here, our team ensures that you get to explore all the tiny monasteries, watch the butter lamp lighting with prayers, shop Tibetan handicrafts, try local foods, and even enjoy a rooftop restaurant experience in the evening.
Worship Lord Vishnu at Changunarayan Temple
Located on a quiet hilltop in the Bhaktapur district, Changunarayan Temple is considered the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Narayan, this UNESCO World Heritage Site holds deep religious and historical importance.
The temple’s origin is considered to date back to the 4th century AD. It has reportedly survived earthquakes, dynasties, and, well, time itself!
The stone inscriptions and intricate wood carvings found here are among the unique in the country. And for tourists like you, this can be an opportunity to glimpse into the ancient artistry.
When you’re here, don’t just check the Narayan Idol. Make sure to take a stroll around the village, enjoy peaceful views, and there’s the oldest 5th-century Sanskrit inscription found that you shouldn’t miss out on!
Beyond Kathmandu: A Visit to Namobuddha Monastery
Not in Kathmandu but in the hills of Kavre, the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery in Namobuddha is another Buddhist pilgrimage site included in this 7-day package.
Since it’s very close to Kathmandu, we didn’t want to skip this sacred Tibetan Buddhist site where you get a very different perspective of Nepal.
According to legend, this is the spot where a young prince offered his own body to a starving tigress and her cubs to save some villagers. And for that reason, this grand Namobuddha Monastery was built and stands to this day, where monks live, study, and carry on that same spirit of selflessness.
The Less Visited Bhaleshwor Mahadev at Chandragiri
This site takes you above the clouds, as Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple is located on Chandragiri Hills, accessible via a cable car ride.
It’s located at 2,551 meters above sea level and serves as one of the best hilltops in Kathmandu. And with a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, this destination is more than just a religious stop.
Curious about its name? Well, it’s believed to be the place where Satidevi’s forehead (Bhala) fell. Meaning, it’s one of the Shaktipeeths! And you guessed it probably on how it got its name, “Bhaleshwor”.
Natural Attractions
Kathmandu is a city but nature never feels too far away from here. Within this trip, we’ve blended in some of the best natural escapes in and around the valley. We promise to take you to places where the air is fresh, skies open wide, and the mountains of Nepal sit as the background for your pictures.
These include flying above Mount Everest, as well as watching the sun rise over distant peaks in Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, and Chandragiri. Scroll down to see how each natural attraction adds its own rhythm to your 7-day Kathmandu Valley journey:

In just under an hour, you'll witness some of the tallest peaks on the planet, including the highlight of the trip, which is Mt. Everest, right from your window seat!

More details will be discussed during our conversation once you complete the booking.
Golden Sunrise and Himalayan Views from Nagarkot
Nagarkot is the most loved peaceful spot in Kathmandu Valley, where pine forests, hills, and fresh mountain air welcome you away from the chaotic city life. When here, you’ll wake up to one of Nepal’s most beautiful sunrises.
Moreover, you’ll see the Himalayan range glowing in gold and orange. And especially on clear mornings, you can spot Mount Everest, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, and even glimpses of the entire Himalayan belt in the far distance.
But Nagarkot isn’t limited to just this. If you have time and wish to add optional sightseeing, we can request the guide to take you to Buddha Peace Park, Tudi Waterfall, Rani Bridge (popular among locals), Geodetic View Tower, Bojinee Dam, etc.
Mountain Views from Dhulikhel
Located about 30 kilometers from Kathmandu, Dhulikhel is another peaceful escape where we’ll spend a night and appreciate the beautiful sunrise view in the morning. Note that it’s not in Kathmandu Valley but in Kavre district’s green hills and open skies.
Dhulikhel is also known for its panoramic Himalayan views, from where Langtang, Rolwaling, Gauri Shankar, and parts of the eastern mountain range can be seen from a distance.
Even when you’re spending leisure time, make sure to go for a short walk to a nearby temple and viewpoint. We’re sure Dhulikhel won’t disappoint you!
Above the Clouds at Chandragiri HIlls
We did mention that Chandragiri is home to the sacred Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple. But now it’s also known as one of the best natural escapes near Kathmandu.
Even just getting to the top of Chandragiri Hills is part of the adventure. A scenic cable car ride takes you above lush green forests, slowly revealing stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley below.
Once you reach the top, you’re welcomed with fresh air, peace, and when the weather is right, some of the clearest Himalayan views. You can witness peaks like Mount Everest, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and more!
Cultural/Historical Attractions
Kathmandu hasn’t just attracted tourists because it’s the capital city. It’s actually a living archive of traditions, temples, palaces, and daily life. That’s what makes it the go-to stop for every traveller.
On this 7-day Kathmandu tour, you’ll walk through ancient royal squares like Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares. You’ll also witness the lively culture. The way people live. The markets they walk through. And the food they serve you.
Culture really is not just about seeing things. It’s about understanding them. And through our support, we guarantee that you’ll learn them one step at a time.
Explore Timeless Stories at Kathmandu Durbar Square
Kathmandu Durbar Square is located right in the heart of the city, where past and present walk together holding hands. The complex once served as the royal palace of the Malla and Shah kings. In the area, you’ll find centuries-old stories, rituals, and arts.
What makes this place so culturally rich is not just the old and preserved monuments. It’s also the way life still moves through them. Daily pujas are held here, and the hidden courtyards are always filled with unheard stories. You’ll even find wood-carved temples, stone statues, and ancient shrines and get the chance to see the living goddess, Kumari.
With that being said, when you’re in the Durbar Square area, don’t miss out on the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Museum, Kumari Ghar, Taleju Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple, Jagannath Temple, along with other traditional shops.
Walk Through Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Ever wanted to walk through a living museum? Bhaktapur Durbar Square is where our team at Altitude Himalaya will take you. This ancient royal palace complex comprises Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square, and Pottery Square.
Also known as the City of Devotees, Bhaktapur is famous for its well-preserved temples, palace courtyards, and intricate woodwork. The square is filled with cultural treasures in every corner you visit.
In this package, we make sure that you get to explore Bhaktapur in the best way possible. You’ll be taken to all the popular spots, including the 55-Window Palace, Vatsala Temple, Nyatapola Temple, and Pottery Square, and even get to taste the very popular and sweet JuJu Dhau (king of curds).
Go For a Cultural Shopping
During the final day of your trip, we walk you through some of Kathmandu’s most vibrant local streets. You won’t just witness the daily life of the locals. You’ll even indulge in Nepali-style shopping that offers a very different cultural experience.
Note that we’re not going to give you a detour of this. We’ll let you explore the lively alleys of Thamel, the buzzing markets of New Road, and the traditional charm of Ason. Don’t be surprised to see the narrow lanes packed with different stalls on both sides.
Be sure to collect as many souvenirs as you’d like to take back home. These may include Buddhist prayer wheels, singing bowls, woolen scarves, and other hand-carved souvenirs.
End Trip With a Farewell Cultural Dinner
To wrap up your 7-day Kathmandu trip, you’ll join us for a farewell cultural dinner at Krishnarpan Restaurant inside Dwarika Hotel.
This isn’t just a dinner. It’s a full cultural experience. As you taste a typical Nepali dinner, you’ll also get to enjoy a live cultural program that showcases traditional music, dances, and clothing styles from across the country.
It’s a quiet but powerful way to reflect on your time in Nepal. You get to see how food, performance, and rituals all come together in one place. We’re pretty sure we’re going to bond together.
The farewell dinner shows exactly how rich Nepal is in terms of hospitality and culture. We treat our guests like God, and this is just one example.
