Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks from Pokhara. There are many ups and downs throughout the trek. The trek goes through some of the beautiful villages with a view of the Machhapuchre. From Kathmandu, it will take about 7 hours to reach Pokhara. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Nepal is also popular for the view of the different mountain ranges, adventure activities, lakes, and many more. From Pokhara, it will take about an hour to reach Nayapul. From Nayapuul the off-road drive will take you to the beautiful Gurung village Ghandruk.
Ghandruk is the most popular Gurung village of Nepal. This village is rich in Gurung culture, tradition, amazing views of the mountain ranges and a lot of more things. Ghandruk is the starting point of the trek. The first day of the trek is not so easy as you will need to ascend almost throughout the day. Chhomrong is the most developed and the largest village on the route to Annapurna Base Camp. There are plenty of Hotels and Lodge as well as the different facilities available for the refreshment of the trekkers. The further walk will lead you to Sinuwa village situated at an altitude of 2,340 meters above sea level.
Bamboo is another popular village on the route to Annapurna Base Camp. The further walk will lead you to Doban situated at an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level. After 2 hours of walk, you will reach the Himalayas for an overnight stay. Situated at an altitude of 3,700 meters above sea level it will take about 6 hours to reach Machhapuchre base camp from Himalaya. It will take about 2 hours to reach Annapurna Base Camp from Machhapuchre base camp.
Situated at an altitude of 4,130 meters above sea level you can witness Machhapuchre and Annapurna I along with other mountain ranges. This trek is ideal because it covers the two wonderful base camps: Annapurna and Machhapuchchhre. The return trail follows Dovan, Jhinu Hot spring, and finally taking back to Pokhara.
Best time to visit Annapurna Base Camp
The temperature here is cold in the morning and warm during the daytime. Consequently, visitors can hike and enjoy the fantastic views with a clear sky. The best time for trekking in Annapurna is during the autumn(September to Early December) and spring season (March to May) of Nepal. However, the low altitude treks in this region are also preferable in the winter and summer seasons.
Annapurna Base camp trek is one of those trekking trails of Nepal which can be explored throughout the year. But from the last week of December to the last week of January the chances of snowfall is very high. During that period of the year. The fresh snow makes it difficult to walk in the trekking trails. Arrival in Kathmandu
Your Arrival Time (?) Our office representative will meet and greet you at Kathmandu Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. At 06:00 PM: In the evening we will meet for a coffee and will brief you on the details of your trek program.
*Optionally you can add one additional night stay in Kathmandu to cover cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu as well for your trek preparation shopping.
Kathmandu Full Day Sightseeing: You will visit for a full day sightseeing in Kathmandu of Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Square, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath.
Drive to Pokhara
At 06:30 AM: Have your breakfast at the hotel and be ready for your drive to beautiful lake city Pokhara. Pokhara is about 200 KM away from Kathmandu, it takes Approx. 6-7 hours of drive to reach there.
03:00 PM: First check-in at your hotel. You will get a few hours to buy your required things for the trek if needed. If not, you can explore the lakeside area and take a rest. You can keep your extra baggage at the hotel in Pokhara.
Drive to Ghandruk, Trek to Chhomrong
At 07:00 AM: Have your breakfast at the Pokhara hotel and be ready for our first-day adventure of the trek. You will start with the drive towards Ghandruk village in the Kaski district of Nepal. The drive takes around 3 hours and from there you will start our trek towards Chhomrong. Our trek starts from Ghandruk and leads to Chhomrong village. It takes about 3-4 hours of trek to reach Chhomrong at a slow pace. Chhomrong is a beautiful settlement where some lodges are available. From here, the Machhapuchre and Annapurna are spectacular and several other mountains are seen. However, the hills mostly cover the landscapes of the mountains, so, not many Himalayas are seen from Chhomrong. Overnight at Chhomrong.
Trek to Himalaya
At 08:00 AM: You will have your breakfast and start your trek towards the Himalaya. In the morning you will get the view of Annapurna south, Hiuchuli, and Machhapuchhre mountain just in front of us. The trail continues downwards to cross the Chhomrong Khola river before climbing up towards the Sinwa village. The trail then passes through the beautiful bamboo forest reaching Dovan and finally to the Himalaya. The trail to Himalaya is mostly an uphill climb and the views of mountain valleys and river streams are captivating. Overnight at Himalaya.
Trek to MBC
At 08:00 AM: After Breakfast at Himalaya, you will start our more uphill trek towards Machhapuchchhre Base camp. Before the MBC stop, you will stop at Deurali for our lunch and continue towards MBC. From MBC the magnificent view of the Annapurna and close Machhapuchre is seen. Overnight at MBC.
Trek to ABC and return to MBC
At 05:00 AM: Today is the base camp day, you will trek to Annapurna Base camp, view the amazing sunrise, enjoy the majestic peaks around us. Take our time at base camp and return back to Machhapuchchhre base camp or even lower. The peaks visible from the base camp area, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchchhre, Tare Kang, Gangapurna, and numerous other sky-touching peaks. After exploring Annapurna Base Camp, you will return to Macchapuchre Base Camp. Overnight at MBC.
Trek to Jhinu Danda
At 08:00 AM: You will further move down towards the lower elevation. The trail we will be following is the same as we came up before. Your stop for today will be Jhinu dada just below the Chhomrong village. Jhinu dada has the Jhinu hot springs and we will retreat ourselves at hot spring after our successful trek in Annapurna Base camp. Overnight at Jhinu dada.
Drive to Pokhara
At 08:00 AM: Today is your last day and after trekking for 2 hours you will catch the vehicle to Pokhara. Overnight at Pokhara Hotel.
Drive to Kathmandu
At 07:00 AM: On this day you are returning to Kathmandu by drive. You will get shopping time in Kathmandu and we will have a farewell Nepali dinner together.
You will be free until your flight time; we will drop you at Kathmandu Airport 3 hours before your flight.
