Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

Drive to Dharapani. [1,860M/6102 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: After breakfast at the hotel, your friendly trek guide will pick you up from the hotel. Today you will drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani through Besishahar and the distance between Kathmandu to Besisahar is around 176 km which will be covered in around 6 hours. And from Besisahar it's just 50 km to reach Dharapani which can be covered in around 4 hours.

You will take a ride to reach your destination of the day. During the first day of your trek, you will take a ride to Dharapani through Besisahar. The road to Besisahar is blacktopped meaning your journey to Dharapani will be exciting yet tiring. After Besisahar you will ride off road to reach Dharapani for the overnight stay. Call it a day and rest well for yet another exciting day.

Day 02

Trek to Koto. [2,650M/8694 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: After breakfast, you will start your trek towards Koto. you will walk from Dharapani to Koto today which is just 13 km and can be covered in around 6 hours on foot. Koto is a peaceful village nestled on the junction of Marshyandi and Nar Rivers and if you follow the north trail you will come across a well-known valley called Nar-Phu Valley where special permits are checked.

Koto is one of the most beautiful villages you will see during your trek. As you walk you will see flora and fauna along with natives doing their day-to-day chores. It lies at an elevation of 2,650 meters above sea level and is also called the gateway to the Nar Phu Valley. Once you arrive at your destination, rest your bags and get refreshed and rest well while you enjoy the pure nature and crisp air.

Day 03

Trek to Upper Pisang. [3,300M/10826 ft]

At. 07:00 AM: Get up early to witness the early sunrise from the hotel. Stretch your legs while your breakfast is getting prepared. Have a warm breakfast paired with a cup of tea, you will start moving towards Upper Pisang. Upper Pisang is a celestial village with a newly made Gompa and century-old Gompa holding numerous historical and religious significance. The majority of the people here are Gurungs, Ghales, and Tibetan immigrants, as a result, you can see monasteries with a hint of Tibetan architectural designs.

Throughout the trail, you will be accompanied by stunning landscapes and you will come across a school at around 3000 m altitude.  You will see kids playing football and other sports. You can join or have a chit-chat with the kids if you wish. Experience the thrill and simplicity dwelling within the joyful little village kids. The hike will go through the dense forest of pine and rhododendron on the steep and narrow valley of the Pisang. During the flowering season, the entire trail is decorated with colorful rhododendrons, somehow making your hike therapeutic and soothing.

Day 04

Trek to Manang. [3,520M/11548 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: Manang is one of the largest villages of the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Most of the travelers take an extra day in this village to explore this village and look around the gigantic mountain views that can be seen from this village. The distance between Upper Pisang to Manang is around 16km and can be covered in around 5-6 hours. You will come across small waterfalls and beautiful places which will enchant you.

The overall ambience is great and full of life. The arid lands with dry and cold wind mark its territory. The trail to Manang is a gentle climb walking through the beautiful jungle. Upon reaching Humde you can witness marvelous views of the mountain ranges such as Annapurna (II, III, IV), Gangapurna, Pisang Peak and Tilicho Peak. The lofty mountains will intimidate you with a cold gaze while gracing you with majestic beauty. You will be walking in around 3520m elevation above sea level so enjoy the crisp chilly air. Day 05

Acclimatization Day in Manang. [3,520M/11548 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a free day at Manang. During this day you can explore some of the beautiful places near Manang. As you are above 3000m you need to acclimatize to avoid altitude sickness and other health issues regarding the elevation. While adapting to the high elevation go around the area and villages to witness the simplicity and the beauty hidden in the core of the village.

This day is perfect for self-exploration however if you don't want to walk you can just rest while you observe the people doing daily chores and beautiful scenery. This day can also be used to interact with the locals and learn about their culture and traditions. You can also interact with other trekkers who share similar interests and passion for the mountains. You can also visit the Gangapurna View Point and witness the spectacular view of the Mountain. Day 06

Trek to Yak Kharka. [4,010M/13156 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: Today you will trek to a unique place filled with adventure and a rewarding view of Yak Kharka. Before you get ready to walk, have a warm breakfast and some tea or water to avoid altitude sickness. After breakfast and bag packing, put on your trekking shoes and get ready to walk.

The distance to Yak Kharka from Manang is only 7 kilometers which you can cover in around 3-4 hours. Yak Kharka translates to Yak Pasture meaning you get to see the Himalayan beasts Yaks grazing in the pasture lands. Passing through Tan village, you will cross the suspension bridge and leave Marshyangd valley behind making your adrenaline high. (Drink plenty of water to prevent altitude sickness as you will walk at higher elevations)

The trail to Yak Kharka will be a steadily uphill climb into the dry and alpine region of the Annapurna Mountain range. As you climb higher the air gets thin so keep yourself well hydrated as well and your motivation higher. As you get close to your today destination you will see either blue or red roofs declaring the end of today's walk. After you check in at your lodge explore around and if you are craving something sweet visit the bakery for some coffee and sweets  (Optional) before you have dinner. There is little to no internet here meaning you will enjoy nature and gossip with your fellow trekkers.

Day 07

Trek to Thorong Phedi. [4,540M/14895 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: On this day you will get closer to your destination and a great place as well. Thorong La Phedi is around 7 km away from Yak Kharka which will take around 3-4 hours. After a few hours of walking, you will reach your today destination meaning you will have half a day of leisure.

You will have leisure in Phedi due to the high altitude and utilize your time to acclimatize and explore the area. Magnificent views of the mountain ranges as well as the scenery can be seen during the day. After crossing the Jorsong Khola you will follow a narrow path across a high screen slope then walk slowly towards Thorong Phedi. Once you check out at your respective lodge, rest your bags and wander around to see the landscapes and environment. Interact with the warm natives and get along with them while you take over a cup of tea.

In the evening gather around the fire inside the lodge to warm your cold hand and kill your boredom. Enjoy a delicious meal, usually a local meal that includes Dal Bhat which is full of carbohydrates and necessary nutrients. After dinner rest well for the next day as you will walk through the toughest pass.

Day 08

Trek to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass. [5,416M/17769 ft]

At. 04:00 AM: Wake up early in the morning as you will ascend towards the pass, on the way witness the mesmerizing sunrise above the gorgeous mountain view. Today is the toughest and most rewarding day of this trek as you walk towards the Annapurna circuit’s tough and crowning jewel, the ultimate pass, Thorong La. Today's walking distance is around 14 km which can be covered in 7-8 hours and can stretch up to 9-10 hours according to your fitness and trek experience.

The best time to reach Thorong La Pass is before sunrise to watch the stunning sunset from a viewpoint. It is difficult to cross Thorong La Pass after 12 because of the heavy wind. Thorong La Pass lies at an elevation of 5,416 meters above sea level and the trail to this pass is steep uphill from the beginning. After a tiring walk to Thorong La pass you'll see the most magnificent view of a lifetime surrounded by dazzling mountains and beautiful Tibetan flags dancing on the rhythm of strong wind caring blessings. Take pictures of your achievement and be an inspiration to many.

After reaching the pass you will take a rest and move further toward the Muktinath Temple. Muktinath (3800m) is a religious site where there are both Hindu as well as Buddhist monuments. The view will make all of your fatigue go away and fill you with new excitement.  After you finish your trek, get refreshed at the hotel/lodge while you rest well for the next day.  Have a warm and heartfelt dinner before you rest.

Day 09

Trek to Jomsom. [2,743M/8999 ft]

At. 08:00 AM: Take your time and have your beauty seel till 08:00 AM and stretch your legs for the last trek day. The trail is not as challenging as others so you can cover the distance of 23 Km without any problem (however if you don't want to walk you can drive to Jomsom which is optional it will take around 50 mins to reach Jomsom by drive)

Before you leave for your destination, have breakfast at the hotel and move towards Jomsom. The distance from Muktinath to Jomsom is about 23 kilometers and can be covered in around 5-7 hours. You will walk through the Kagbeni and finally reach Jomsom. Kagbeni is one of the famous places in the Mustang region of Nepal and you will stop by Kagbeni for your Lunch. The architecture draws the attention of the tourist and its visitors as some of the monuments are century years old carrying the history and distinctive culture.

Stay at a comfortable lodge at Jomsom and get enough sleep. If you are a sky person then view the starry sky glittering with millions of stars. Interact with the people and grab the opportunity to get along with the locals and know the history as you sip on warm and refreshing tea.

Day 10

Fly to Pokhara and Kathmandu. [1,350M/4429 ft]

At. 07:00 AM: Have an early morning breakfast and move towards Jomsom Airport. Jomsom Airport is the only airport connecting Mustang with other parts of Nepal. The flight to Jomsom and from Jomsom are operated until 11 AM only. (Flight time Jomsom to Pokhara 20 minutes) Upon reaching Pokhara you will take another connecting flight to Kathmandu (Pokhara to Kathmandu flight duration 30 minutes).

Upon reaching Kathmandu our friendly office staff will pick you up and drop you at your hotel. Get refreshed and enjoy the excellent service from the hotel. You can either rest or self-explore the narrow vibrant alleys of Kathmandu full of eye-catching merchandise and souvenirs. Have lunch at the cozy cafes and restaurants where you can find proper Nepa cosine and continental cuisine as well.

However, in the higher elevations during the trip, you will taste local cuisine which is mostly Thakali food and for breakfast limited options are available. Some of the available foods are eggs, fresh seasonal veggies, salads, apple pies, pancakes, Dalbhat, bread, soups, and meat (depending on availability) and in developed areas, you can try food from the A-la-carte menu and try a wide range of food options.

  • Can I customize or update our accommodations?

Altitude Himalaya has designed and mentioned luxury accommodations to maintain a standard and availability but if you want to update the lodges and hotel which will update the accommodations they will increase price ranges accordingly.

  • How to avoid Altitude sickness?

    Getting altitude sickness is very unpredictable and it can get anyone although you are physically fit and fine. There are a few things that you can do to avoid getting altitude sickness such as drinking plenty of water (4-6 lt/day), having enough carbohydrates, maintaining a slow and constant walking pace, avoiding alcohol and cigarettes and last but not least acclimatizing according to the high elevation.
